Another way to help prevent Candidiasis is to include probiotics in your diet. Probiotics basically are healthy bacteria that live in you digestive tract and help you to digest your food efficiently.
Probiotic bacteria also help convert some of the food you eat into essential vitamins. For instance, vitamin K is made entirely from the bacteria living within you, therefore, it is rare that someone would have to take a vitamin k supplement because of the probiotics living in the gut.
These healthy bacteria also can keep Candida cells at bay by not giving them room or the resources needed to grow. Bacteria are better adapted to living in the intestines so if they are present in healthy numbers, then Candida will not be able to grow out of control.
Probiotic Foods List
Which foods contain probiotics and how to keep your gut flora in healthy shape is a common question. In a previous article I covered which foods (prebiotics) help feed these healthy bacteria. Here are some foods that actually have active probiotics in them, however, some may not be suitable for a candida Diet because of their sugar content or vinegar content.
- Yogurt ( all natural is the best)
- Cottage Cheese
- Sour cream
- Butter Milk
There are also many other foods that have had probiotics added in your grocery store like butter and even breads. You can also take probiotic supplements, but foods that naturally contain helpful bacteria are the best.
My review of Yeast infection No More which is a Candida Diet program that incorporates probiotics as part of a healthy Candida cleansing diet.
The Power of Probiotics
If you are taking an antibiotic for some type of infection, it is extremely important that you are consuming lots of probiotic foods because the antibiotics kill the bacteria in your intestines which can create space for Candida cells to grow.
Keeping your intestinal flora healthy is your first line of defense against Candida and other harmful micro-organisms.
Plus you will feel so much better if you keep your probiotic levels as healthy as they can be.
