Gaining Weight On a Yeast Infection Diet

Although one of the hidden benefits of a yeast Infection diet is weight loss for a lot of people, it doesn’t necessarily have to be that way.

Some people may need to gain weight or maintain a healthy weight while on this restrictive diet and this is possible by eating enough of the right foods.

Sometimes people with severe chronic candidiasis or immune disorders are under weight because their bodies have been constantly sick. Although a yeast infection diet could actually bring them some healing, they are afraid to start the diet because of the fear that the program will cause them to lose even more weight. I recently received such a comment from an 89 pound woman who desperately needed help, but was afraid of the weight loss.

I encourage people in this position to focus on a few great foods and then to eat a lot of those foods. Here are some suggestions.

7 Weight Gaining and Candida Safe Foods

  1. Lentils: Lentils are amazing. I use these as part of my body building diet and they are so healthy. Full of protein (complete if eaten with brown rice), good carbs, plant sterols, and fiber. They are very versatile as well and can be used in curries, soups, and formed into meatless hamburger patties. There are many varieties to choose from and I like to mix varieties in the same dish for different textures.
  2. Greek Yogurt: Another amazing food is Greek Yogurt. It’s loaded with protein and probiotics. The bacteria in yogurt have digested most of the milk sugars so it’s a great yeast infection eliminating food.
  3. Lean Organic Meats: If you’re a meat eater, try to have at least one meal a day that contains a big portion of meat. Suggestions include salmon, free range chicken, venison, organic beef, and free range turkey.
  4. Organic Free Range Eggs: I also eat a lot of eggs to gain muscle mass. New research shows that the cholesterol in eggs doesn’t raise blood cholesterol unless you already have a problem with cholesterol. If your cholesterol is fine then eat a lot of eggs.
  5. Long Grain Brown Rice: This type of rice digests slowly and is great for the yeast eliminating diet. I usually eat mine with lentils or with stir fries.
  6. Quinoa: This super grain is a must if you’re trying to maintain or gain weight. It’s high in protein, low GI carbs, and fiber. You can use it in place of rice or in soups, on salads, and as a hot breakfast cereal.
  7. Protein Supplements: I’m not a huge advocate of protein supplements but they can be a life saver for some. Just use ones that are high quality, all natural, and sugar free. If you want one that’s flavored and sweetened, look for ones that use stevia.
