What is Candida Alcoholism?

Candida alcoholism is a term used to describe the effects yeast cells can have on the human body when they grow out of control. People who are suffering from an overgrowth of Candida albicans often report “drunk like” symptoms such as foggy head and dizziness, so what is the reason behind this?

Candida albicans, like other yeast, produce alcohol as a waste product during a process called fermentation. When a person has yeast fermenting in their intestines or through out their body, then this alcohol released can produce a type of alcoholism for the sufferer. This wouldn’t be enough alcohol to make someone legally drunk or even be measurable during a breath test, but it affects the brain of the person with the Candida overgrowth.

Be Yeast Infection Free This New Year

With the New Year right around the corner, there is no better time to make the necessary diet and lifestyle changes so that you can be yeast infection free during the year to come.

What’s great about a yeast infection diet is that it also promotes weight loss as you adjust your eating habits to eliminate the Candida yeast overgrowth in your system. So if you have a few pounds to lose and also suffer from chronic yeast infections, you can take care of two new year’s resolutions by following one diet.

Candida Overgrowth and Chronic Fatigue

candida overgrowthIt is estimated that over 1 million people in the USA and at least 250,000 people in the UK are living with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome or CFS.

There are many theories and some medical evidence for the cause of this condition, but it can also be a very vague diagnosis. If a doctor has performed all the conventional tests and can’t find a cause for the patient’s extreme fatigue and lack of motivation they diagnosis them with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome.

What most doctors wouldn’t consider is that their patient could be suffering from Candida overgrowth. Chronic Candida or Candida overgrowth can actually have very similar symptoms to CFS.

Chronic Candida and Stress: Roadblock to Healing

Often when people discover that they have a chronic Candida infection they focus on diet and foods to clear up the Candida overgrowth.

However, sometimes there are other factors that can be roadblocks to success when on a Candida eliminating diet. One such factor is stress as it can be a contributing factor to getting candidiasis and a factor in getting rid of the yeast.

Stress and the Body

As you are probably aware, ongoing stress is not good for the body. We have developed mechanisms to help us cope with difficult situations in life, but these mechanisms are really just meant to work for short periods of time. If a person is faced with prolonged stress these mechanisms actually cause harm to the body. Ongoing stress causes adrenal fatigue and this in turn weakens the immune system, inhibits proper digestion, interferes with sleep patterns,  effects sexual health, and throws hormone levels out of balance among other things.

If you’ve ever been “stressed out” or have known

Obesity, Candida and Weight Loss

With 70 million Americans classified as obese and 15 million of those people severely obese one has to wonder if there is a connection with Candida.

There is a big debate raging on whether or not obesity is a choice or a disease as some people seem powerless to change. Factoring in diet plan cost, tummy tuck cost, and gastric bypass cost has become part a many household budgets.

If Candida albicans is involved then the obesity disease connection could be even more true. One of the major physiological factors with a systemic Candida infection is the craving of sugar and carbs which is a major factor in a person’s inability to lose weight. Furthermore, the whole addictive property of sugar and carb laden food is well documented and Candida could be contributing to this addiction.

One of the by-products that Candida releases is a type of alcohol so when Candida cells aren’t metabolizing

Why are Doctors so Afraid to Diagnose Chronic Candida?

People can struggle for years with unexplained medical conditions. They can go from doctor to doctor and have all kinds of tests run. After awhile the doctor usually comes up with a diagnosis of IBS or chronic fatigue when tests really can’t reveal the source of the patient’s problem.

Why is Chronic Candidiasis seldom considered as a diagnosis when usually the symptoms are quite obvious? There are a few reasons for this hesitation on the part of the medical community.

First of all the notion that a person could have a system wide candida infection was not even popularized until William Crook, MD wrote about systemic Candidiasis in his book The Yeast Connection in 1983. So prior to this there was virtually no history or studies to draw from and quite frankly until just a few years ago not much research has been done.  Research dollars go to high paying diseases such as cancer.
