Candida Eliminating Salad Dressing

A big green leafy salad is a staple of the Candida eliminating diet, but many of the salad dressings we love to put on them are a big no go.

Here is a very tasty yet easy Candida eliminating salad dressing recipe that was inspired by my turkish friends. This dressing is best if made a few hours ahead of time.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups plain unsweetened organic yogurt (I think Greek is the best.)
  • 6 gloves of garlic minced (fresh is the best)

The Candida Diet and Potatoes

Many people who are following a Candida Diet to eliminate chronic yeast infections ask if potatoes are allowed.

The answer is generally yes and no. The potato wouldn’t be totally forbidden on a Candida Diet, but there are some general guidelines to follow.

Potato Candida Diet Guidelines

Most websites would say that potatoes are OK occasionally while on a Candida Diet, but potato skins should be avoided completely. The premise is that since potatoes grow in soil, they would contain Candida yeast cells on them. Despite washing them and cooking them, you still potentially could be putting yeast into your system by eating the skins.

Chia Seeds and the Yeast Eliminating Diet

Another great Candida food to begin incorporating into your yeast eliminating diet is the chia seed.

You may remember these tiny chia seeds marketed as a novelty plant you would spread on a ceramic lamb and watch it grow. Who knew back in the 80′s that we should have been eating these tiny seeds instead of wasting them on a novelty.

Chia seeds can be added to a Candida diet as a way to get great nutrition as well as for adding variety to the yeast eliminating diet.

Although chia seeds are tiny, they sure pack a punch.

A few weeks ago I wrote about an amazing gluten free and low glycemic cookbook I found. What’s great about this cookbook is that the recipes are also Candida diet friendly.

Most can be made while on a yeast free diet with the rest acceptable during the maintenance phase of a Candida Diet. Golden Chalice Roasted Red Pepper Hummus is one such recipe provided courtesy of Debbie Johnson the author of Fun with GF/LG Foods , to encourage Candida dieters to try the rest of her amazing recipes by purchasing her cookbook.

Manuka Honey and the Candida Yeast Free Diet

When people are on a Candida eliminating diet it can be difficult because the sweet tooth has to be “pulled out” unless you switch to artificial sweeteners which can have other negative health factors.

There’s a special type of honey made in New Zealand and Australia that has amazing antimicrobial properties. This honey is called Manuka Honey in New Zealand and Jellybush Honey in Australia. Manuka Honey is gaining popularity around the world and it can be found in most places now.

What Makes Manuka Honey Special?

While all honey has some antimicrobial properties, manuka honey has an additional property because of the manuka bush from which the honey bees gather nectar from.

Candida Diet Recipes: Gluten Free and Low Glycemic Recipes

So you’ve been on a strict Candida eliminating diet for a couple of months and it’s now time to resume a more “normal” way of eating.

However, it can be scary because what if you become to liberal with your diet and the Candida starts growing out of control again? I think good Candida diet recipes are the answer. If you can have an arsenal of great tasting candida diet recipes at your disposal then lifelong success is within your grasp.

I was excited when I found this great Candida diet recipes collection from an award winning gourmet chef, Debbie Johnson who owned The Golden Chalice Restaurant and Gallery, a 100% organic, gluten-free, sugar-free and low-glycemic establishment. Not only is she the author of the best selling book “Think Yourself Thin”, but she also has just released her great collection of gluten free, sugar free and low glycemic  Candida diet recipes in a book entitled Fun with Gluten free and Low Glycemic Food.

Now these Candida diet recipes haven’t taken into consideration everything involved with the strict part of a Candida diet, but they would be great for use in the maintenance phase of the diet. The  Candida diet recipes are developed with common food allergies in mind and since they are gluten free and low glycemic they won’t feed those hungry Candida albicans cells.
