Candida Die Off Symptoms

candida-die-off-symptomsOne of the unfortunate things about returning to heath after a systemic Candida infection is the die off symptoms that can result from the Candida yeast cells dying quickly.

This overloads the body with toxins from this sudden die off.

Your body needs time to eliminate all of these dead micro-organisms and during this process some pretty uncomfortable symptoms can result.

Possible Candida Die Off Symptoms

  • gas & bloating
  • headache
  • a foggy head
  • sore throat
  • anxiety
  • heightened anger reactions
  • dizziness
  • diarrhea
  • constipation
  • joint and muscle pain
  • depression
  • general malaise
  • tiredness
  • sweating and chills
  • nausea
  • skin breakouts

What Can Be Done?

Sometimes people begin to feel worse after they start a Candida albicans diet than they did when eating regularly.

When this happens people are tempted to give up, thinking that the diet isn’t working, however, it’s important to keep steady to the course if long lasting yeast infection relief is desired.

Here are some things that can be done to help lessen the severity of Candida die off symptoms.

  • Start Supplements Slowly
Some are tempted to start the diet and take a lot of the recommended supplements ( such as olive leaf) right from the beginning in hopes of fast results. This isn’t wise as the body needs time to handle the candida die off. Take small doses of the supplements in the beginning and then gradually increase to the full dose.
  • Drink Plenty of Water
Water helps your body flush out toxins, so staying well hydrated will help your body deal with all of the dead Candida cells that are stressing your body’s systems.
  • Sweat
Besides, your lungs, colon, kidneys, and liver, your skin is an amazing detoxifying organ. Sweating several times a day can help your body flush the Candida die off toxins out of your body quicker. You can use exercise, saunas, a jacuzzi, steam rooms, and hot baths to accomplish this.

Yeast Die Off is Temporary

With a little patience and using some of these tips, Candida die off symptoms don’t have to be the deal breaker when it comes to living free from Candida overgrowth.

Remember also that for many years your body has adapted to having the Candida cells living inside it, so it will take some time for your body to adapt to being Candida albicans free, but when it finally is, you won’t believe how better you will feel.

Flushing toxins off with water through sweat and natural body functions is the most natural way to do it.
Sweating through exercise is the best way.

I would recommend eating lots of beans when you are trying to eliminate yeast.
They are a fat soluble fiber, and they are the best food to carry toxins out of your body. I have been on the candida yeast free diet for over five years. I started eating beans (six 1/2 cup servings each day)and have noticed an improvement in my bowel movements, and I have no more night sweating which was caused from an overloaded gall bladder. I felt awful the first week or so, with much gas and other unpleasant side effects. But the gas is not caused from beans, but from fermentation of bad bile clinging to beans. The gas should disappear as the toxins are eliminated, and new bile is produced. You may want to look into a website by a nutritionist, karenkurd.com. I hope this is helpful to someone. I feel as though I have been pulling a bucket out of a well for five years, trying to come to the end of all this. Thank the Lord for healing.

@Michelle, welcome :-) I think you really should have a solid diet as the basis of your treatment and then add herbs and probiotics.. I also tell people to save time and energy and purchase a pre-made Candida diet because it takes you step by step through the whole process. I’ve reviewed the better ones here… http://www.candidafood.com/candida-albicans-diet-reviews/ hang in there and there is hope :-)

  6. Luolan says:

Just take Fluconazole, $15 with prescription, clears it in a few days… I tried the diet for weeks and always relapsed; I don’t really want to do this for months, as healthy as it is I miss breads, cereal, fruit….

  7. Cathryn says:

Michelle starting with diet and then slowly adding supplements is good advice I think. Enzymes with Betaine Hydrochloride really helped me and a good probiotic. I am much better but still fighting this monster. I have read that Formula SF722 works well. Also read, drinking 1 tsp baking soda in water helps with die off symptoms. Hope you are on the road to healing soon!

Thanks for your input Cathryn. :-)

I was diagnosed with candida overgrowth back in February, finally, after over 4years of incredible suffering from intestinal distress. At first, I eliminated foods slowly, first cutting sugar and gluten and dairy, but still eating about 2-3servings of grains per day. I experienced die off right away, and after about 3 weeks of being terribly sick, I decided to eliminate grains. I stopped eating all grains for about 3 and a half weeks, during which I was still pretty sick!! I even had cut back on meat and eggs, because I thought my body was having a hard time digesting even that. After losing so much weight, my Dr advised I eat more meat and eggs, so I added more back in, but have kept my grain portions very limited, maybe two mouthfuls of brown rice pasta or quinoa 1-3x a week. In addition I ve also done at least 8 sessions of hydrotherapy, and have seen some yeast elimination in that. My Dr thinks I might have other issues besides the yeast though, because my intestinal inflammation is still incredibly high. I ve been.doing the ACD for about two months, and it seems like my die off will not go away. I am pretty strict with my diet, I eat at least 50-60% raw a day if not more, and eat lots of nuts, nut burgers, nut flours, seeds, veggies, and either chicken or turkey or eggs, yet every day I am still so sick. I have w normal BM every am, bit then it is followed by tons of bloating and raging diarrhea that always has bits of shredded, white yeast in it. I know I am still killing yeast, but is it normal for me to be so sick with diarrhea every day when I am following the diet? Is this still just die off? Had anyone else experienced die off that has lasted so long? I am also

Oops got cut off there! I am also experiencing really bad mood shifts, getting really angry very easily and depressed the next min .. one day I will be doing ok, then the next I am really depressed, and sick with bloatibg, gas, and diarrhea .. I feel just as bad now as I have been feeling the past 4years, except now my diet is 100% different and I see shredded white chunks of yeast in my diarrhea .. does anyone know how long this lasts? I feel so alone and the fact that I have made so many changes yet still feel so terrible makes me wonder what is really wrong with me ..

Michelle – you mentioned eating nuts however I’ve read that nuts can carry mold which feeds yeast so perhaps try not eating nuts for a time and see what effect that would have. I’ve discovered that conventional medicine does not acknowledge Yeast overgrowth as a problem. I have been to a number of doctors who I’ve mentioned it to who totally disregard it as a possible cause of my symptoms. A Naturopathic doctor would be a good choice instead. I have had to educate myself about this condition and have seen improvements through eliminating the bad foods (ex. sugar, vinegar, alcohol, milk, bread) and taking probiotics and anti-fungals (grapefruit seed extract, oil of oregano, garlic) on a daily basis. I’ve also read that the body needs certain minerals for the liver to properly detox (including calcium, magnesium, zinc and selenium). When the candida dies off, the remaining toxins needs to be eliminated and if the body is deficient in these minerals, it cannot detox effectively. In addition, I’ve found an improvement by taking very high doses of Vitamin C and I’ve just started Alpha Lipoic Acid (these are both antioxidants which your body needs to help expel the free radicals resulting from the die off). I am still working at it but it takes consistancy and remaining strict on your diet.

  14. Lily says:

Sorry Michelle – my first comment was meant for Liz regarding the nuts.

  15. admin says:

Thanks for the advice Lily, however, just a couple things; mold doesn’t “feed” yeast and There is nothing a naturopathic doctor will tell you that isn’t found here. http://www.candidafood.com/yeast-infection-no-more-review/ the only difference is the money you’ll save. Naturopaths can be expensive. :-)

Michelle and all other desperate sufferers feeling hopeless. The cure is GSE (grapefruit seed extract). Look up GSE candida the answer is rite there GSE is a miracle antibiotic no1knows about cuz docs have their heads up their heads up their %&#. I personally got rid of it. The dieoff is a mofo you feel dieoff less than hours after you take it. Bear thru it and you’ll be cured. Remember after you feel better STAY on GSE and the diet at no less than a month. wen mine dieoff itchy water bumps on my wristhappenedhappened that’s how I knew it worked I eventually felt free and alive than merely surviving. I’m 18 by the way. Drink lots of water and DOYour RESEARCH. Don’t just take One sites word saying theirs no cure they can go 2 hell its simple the hardest part is beating the dieoff it will challenge your will drink lots of water.

  18. richie says:

Make sure you starve the candida before you go for the kill! And I say again follow the program cuz the candida comes back unless you kill 95% of it you’ll feel better cheat your diet and fall rite back in the hole you just climbed out of. Trust me I did it and learned very quickly
