Many Candida eliminating diets do a great job of telling candidiasis sufferers what not to eat, but often they lack the ability to give the dieter adequate allowed food choices and replacements for the eliminated ones.
Avocado is perhaps one of the most healthy and nutrient complete foods available as it has a great blend of healthy fats, protein and good carbs with probiotic friendly fiber as well as a multitude of vitamins and minerals. Many still operate under the old understanding that avocados are really fattening and should only be used occasionally. New research shows that the fat in avocados is actually healthy and it lowers bad cholesterol. Many nutritionists recommend even eating an avocado everyday.
The good news for anyone on a Candida eliminating diet is that fresh avocado is perfectly acceptable as part of your diet regimen. As well as being healthy, avocado is a really versatile fruit as it can be used in both savory and sweet dishes so don’t just think their only good for guacamole.
Avocado/Candida Foods Ideas
- Spread Avocado on multi-grain low GI toast.

- Put Avocado in smoothies (makes them really creamy).
- Use Avocado in place of forbidden Mayo.
- Spread avocado on whole wheat organic crackers for a snack.
- Avocado makes a great Candida free pizza topping.
- Add to the classic BLT to make a BLAT, no mayo required.
- Make a healthy Candida busting guacamole dip with avocado, cilantro, cayenne, onion, fresh garlic, lime juice and a little salt.
Avocados will definitely help to make following a Candida eliminating diet easier and the immune system strengthening qualities of them will speed up the process of healing from being infected by an overgrowth of Candida albicans. On the topic “Candida diet: The foods to consume and foods to avoid” you have this paragraph : “And in extreme cases, it is also best to avoid consuming a lot of grapes, bananas, avocados because they also contain high amounts of sugar”. Is in contradiction with the above article.

First of all the article in question wasn’t written by me, but a guest author, secondly she states that in “extreme cases” This would mean people who aren’t finding relief cutting out the refined sugars and carbs. Avocado is a great food source and it’s benefits far out weigh the rare chance that the sugar contained in it will feed Candida. You also have to remember that most things you eat is converted to sugar during the digestive process, in fact your body is fueled by sugar.

Thanks for the comment above
I am just starting a Candida diet and boy is it rough going at the market
Can I use unsweetened Hemp Milk?
It has zero sugar and 1 gram carb for 1 cup
Also, I have seen various info on nuts(many are a no go) and almonds (which are recommended). I would love to include almonds in my diet: are almonds one of the nuts that are not “moldy” and so are acceptable?
Lastly, I was going to cut out all grains, but I think that is impossible. If I go for gluten free rice, quinoa, etc. is that OK?
Thanks for your support

Hi Jennifer,
I’ve never heard of hemp milk but it sounds fine. and almonds are ok from what I understand. Foods don’t necessarily have to be gluten free but should definitely be low glycemic index foods so whole wheat would be better than say white rice..Does that make sense? I wouldn’t cut out all grains oats, brown long grain rice and quinoa are good to keep in the diet.

Great news! I was searching in the internet exactly this. Since Avocado does not contain sugar that is bad for this type of condition. Unfortunately I have a lot of food intolerances (eggs, wheat, dairy , nuts) and this can save me in my breakfast
thank you for writing this article!

Ana,
Try eating Buckwheat for breakfast. Use the organic type. Has 0 sugars, is not a grain, has many heatlh benefits, easy to make. Just sweeten with Stevis or Xylitol. Great althernative in my opinion.
