5 Steps Stop Candida Vaginal Odor

Vaginal odor is an embarrassing and uncomfortable thing for women who struggle with chronic yeast infections. What’s worse is that this odor is hard to cover up and can cause the women to isolate themselves and avoid even their partners.

Vaginal odor usually indicates that there is a problem in the vaginal area so steps should be taken to clear the problem up. Odor can be caused by bacterial or Candidal infections but more commonly Candidal yeast is the source. You can tell the difference because a yeast infection will produce a white discharge while bacterial infections will not.

There is a myth that women who are not clean get more yeast infections, but this isn’t true. Vaginal candida usually results from an over abundance of Candida cells through out and on the body. This overgrowth can be caused by antibiotic use, birth control use, genetic predisposition, and poor diet. Also women who douche regularly can actually have a greater instance of yeast infections because the douche washes away helpful bacteria that keep Candida from growing out of control.

Steps to Treat Vaginal Yeast Odor

There are several things women can do to help clear up yeast infections and prevent new ones from forming which cause vaginal odor.

  1. Start on the inside: Make dietary changes that will prevent Candida from being over populated in the human body. Some my have to make minor changes while other women will have to follow a strict Candida eliminating diet.  Probiotics and herbs are also great tools to keep Candida at bay in the body.
  2. Avoid antibiotics: Don’t take antibiotics unless absolutely necessary. A good rule of thumb is if something hasn’t cleared up on its own after two weeks, then see a doctor for antibiotics. Many run to the doctor after one day of being sick.
  3. Avoid douches: It’s tempting to use over the counter douches to get rid of vaginal odor, but these products can make the problem worse by drying out the vagina, removing good bacteria, and unbalancing the ph of the vagina.
  4. Use baking soda: A solution of baking soda and warm water can be gently squirted in the vagina using a saline syringe. Baking soda not only helps eliminate vaginal odor, but also kills Candida cells.
  5. See your doctor: If the problem persists, see your doctor to make sure the odor is being caused by a yeast infection. Although natural treatments are probably best, sometimes a prescription may be needed to give you a jump on the infection while dietary changes take effect.

Great suggestions for getting rid of a yeast infection. What also worked for me with an anti candida diet was making sure I started eating more whole wheat foods instead of simple carbohydrates such as white rice, white flour, and whitish breads. Simple carbohydrates allow candida fungi to feed and breed. Cutting back or eliminating these types of foods permanently goes a long way to getting rid of a yeast infection.
